The Launch
THE LAUNCH HAS HAPPENED!
Abbi was just 21 when her 2nd fight against leukaemia was lost in January 2018.
The book launch took place on what would have been Abbi’s 26th birthday had she still been with us. Our special friend and supporter Becky Higg played her two songs for us and explained again how she came to write Abbi’s Song and Like the Tide. There were balloons, sweets and cakes to enjoy and The Mess Café served up some delicious hot and cold drinks for the guests to buy.
Unfortunately, the books had not yet arrived from the printers, so people wanting a copy, signed up to preorder one and all were treated to a first reading of the story by the author, Mike Peacock.
We had representatives from The Joshua Tree and Care for the Family whose charities work alongside bereaved families – see Our Friends page for more details.
Liz shared her heart for a Ukrainian edition of the book to be made available for children who have come to live in the U.K. because of the war in their home country and how a sponsorship programme is planned to gift a book of each language to English speaking and Ukrainian speaking children wherever they are, whether in households, churches and primary schools or just in libraries. This is hoped to be launched before Christmas 2022 and you will be able to find out how to become a sponsor for this on our website soon so please check back or send us an email via the contact us page.
