The Launch
THE LAUNCH HAS HAPPENED!
Abbi was just 21 when her 2nd fight against leukaemia was lost in January 2018. The launch event raised funds to support the work of Teenage Cancer Trust, through donations made on the night and raised awareness of the struggles young people with serious illness have to face. The talented Becky Higg shared the story of how she created Abbi’s Song and how the song celebrates the life she lived with us. Limited edition CDs of Abbi’s song were available to purchase on the night and some of Abbi’s art work was displayed showing some of her experiences of cancer treatment, self image distortion and violence against women depicting her early life experience.
Emma Owen from the charity Respect ME spoke of the work she does in schools delivering sessions aiming to equip, empower, & build up young people to be the best they can be through helping them understand their value, promoting a healthy sense of self, positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Abbi’s Teenage Cancer Trust Clinical Nurse Specialist, Charlene Jones, spoke of her work at The Christie and Manchester Royal Infirmary hospitals where Abbi was treated.
We were very grateful to all of our speakers and to The Message Trust in Manchester for supporting our Abbi’s Song launch event.
